Just as other Skyblock Mods you need a mod that has all the puzzle solver on. Skytils is basically a free version of SBE but if you have SBE you dont really need to use Skytils. Skytils has all the puzzle solver that you need really. My favorite is Water room. Tells you which color is which lever, and its always updated and never broken.

1.8 is way better for skyblock at the moment as other people said. But there are mods you can use if you REALLY want to play on later versions, it's just that your experience is gonna be way worse than playing on 1.8, personally I think the biggest issue is all the lagbacks that you get, and that you can't stonk (to walk through walls) in dungeons.
