After looking at a spec sheet for the 42RLE, it does match my tranny. So, I have a 2003 Wrangler X / 4.0 / 42RLE tranny / 231 J transfer case, and I'm stuck in limp mode.

I have a 2001 TJ 4.0 and it is consistently throwing a P0305 (#5 piston misfire) code and any time the RPM reaches 2800, it cuts out and surges between 2600 and 2800 rpm (exactly like a Rev limiter, assume a limp mode).
